Military aircraft engines and applications
Snecma offers full in-house design, development and production capabilities for two major military engine families, the M88-2 and M53-P2.
Over the last three decades Snecma has developed a number of international partnerships and alliances with leaders in the aerospace industry, based on a commitment to pooling best-in-class competencies, while sharing costs and risks:
Snecma also provides full technical and logistic support on the Tyne (Snecma/Rolls-Royce / MTU Aero Engines) and Atar® engines still in service. The Tyne turboprop engine is produced under Rolls-Royce license by a consortium grouping Snecma, MTU Aero Engines and Techspace Aero (also a SAFRAN company). Tyne engines power the French-German C-160 Transall transport and Dassault’s Atlantic 1 and Atlantique 2 maritime patrol aircraft. Snecma provides complete MRO services for these engines.
Most recently, Snecma has teamed up with Rolls-Royce, ITP and MTU Aero Engines in the Europrop International (EPI) consortium to develop, produce and support the TP400-D6 engine for the Airbus Military A400M military transport aircraft.
