The Vulcain® 2 cryogenic rocket engine, developing over 300,000 pounds of thrust (1,340 kN), powers the cryogenic main stage of the Ariane 5 launcher. Derived from the original Vulcain® main-stage engine and offering 20% more thrust, it was qualified by the launch of Ariane 5 ECA on February 12, 2005. End of 2013, the Vulcain® engine family had logged 57successful launches in a row over more than ten years.
